Scott preaches semi-regularly and occasionally teaches the Adult catechism class at OURC. He was pastor of Hope Reformed Church/Walnut Creek Presbyterian Church (now Northland Reformed Church) in Kansas City, Missouri from 1987-1993.

He has taught at Wheaton College (1995-1997), Reformed Theological Seminary (Jackson; 1996) and Concordia University, Irvine, California (2000).

He is the author of Recovering the Reformed Confession: Our Theology, Piety, and Practice, Caspar Olevian and the Substance of the Covenant: The Double Benefit of Christ, and the editor of Covenant, Justification, and Pastoral Ministry: Essays by the Faculty of Westminster Seminary California and co-editor of Protestant Scholasticism: Essays in Reassessment.
